Invest in yourself

If you are seeking to build a business online, it is crucial that you invest in yourself.

I work to help creative people have success online for their business, career and life, the culmination of over a decade of working online, in addition to my award-winning career in journalism.

But even though I have had a lot of success in my career I continue to make an effort to invest in myself – continue to try to learn new skills, improve my mindset, and read about what methods of working online really deliver.

MILLION-DOLLAR MAN

Millionaire internet marketer John Reese last month in an online podcast stressed the importance for people to build a business online and to always be learning new skills.

In 2004, Reese managed to break the “4-minute mile of online marketing” – making over $1 million in 24 hours. So he kinda knows what he is talking about …

Reese stresses the need for people to work on their business and career skills.

STARTING FROM SCRATCH?

If you are starting from scratch to build a business online, or even if you have been at it for a few years, an important key to success is building your online and marketing skillset.

As Reese points out, investing in yourself – building your skills and mindset – is a crucial part of having success online.

This is the message you get from me and a whole host of people who are having success online.

You could just do the bare minimum – get an offer (product) and funnel, drive traffic to it, and hopefully make sales. That is the “bare-bones” approach. But if you want to try to build a good income online and build an enduring business, it is vitally important to work on your skill-sets – and get mindset inspiration.

Go way beyond the minimum knowledge you have.

BUSINESS STARTER SHORTLIST

You probably know what you should be focusing on in terms of skills but here is a simple short-list or starter:

– How to drive traffic and the different methods
– Setting up or using good funnels
– Effectively using an autoresponder
– Sending out follow-up emails to your list
– Building a relationship with your list
– Using social media effectively
– Running a good “authority” website
– And so on.

Often people new to working online get overwhelmed. It just seems like there is so much to learn.
But the key here is to focus on skills step by step. Build competence in each.

For example, there are lots of ways to drive traffic to your offer or funnel. Start with one method and try to get good at that. Only use one method to start.

All the skills can be tackled if you focus on them one by one.

Work on your skillsets. Put them into practice. Test and tweak. And chances are you will have success.
